Introduction

In the last decade, many new imaging and surgical technologies have entered the hospitals. In order to integrate smoothly these technologies within the surgical workflow and also to assist the surgeon in using this increased amount of information, much effort is being put into the analysis of the surgical room and of the surgical processes. This seminar will cover some recent computer science topics related to the design of the operating room of the future. It will give an overview of the technical requirements, methods and applications.

    • Applications
  • Surgical Gesture Analysis
    • Methods for the recognition and evaluation of surgicals gestures (DTW, HMMs)
    • Use for training and evaluation of surgeons
  • Tracking and signal acquisition in the OR
